THE REFORMATION
Today we can assure that the Protestant Reformation put in the hands of the people the Bible, which is the Holy and infallible Word of God. It is through the Bible that we know that Salvation is only by faith and grace, and not by our works. Today modern society accepts pagan values against the family. The Protestant Reformation was raised against the indulgences invented by the church in Rome. For this reason today the Bible Presbyterian Church rises up to defend the fundamental principles of the Christian Faith. Those principles that are rooted in our current society with ethical and moral values influenced by Christianity. But today, politicians influenced by ideologies contrary to these principles are very busy passing laws with the sole purpose of redesigning society into a libertine one. These laws have a humanistic, liberal, materialistic atheist content that violates and restricts the freedom of those who are the majority of our country. I need not to remind you that they are a very small minority that believes they have the right to affect an entire nation in its content of behavior and ethics.
Therefore the Presbyterian Bible Church in Bolivia indicates about God: In the passionate discussion of values issues that are taking place in our nation it is perfectly clear that the anti-Christians do not believe that there is a creator God, who intervenes in the lives of His creatures. Today’s ideologues hold that God is a concept of the human mind, without an objective reality.
And to those of us who believe, in God, they call us: religious, fundamentalist, protestant, biblical fanatics. But God exists and those who do not take it into account one day will find themselves in the hands of the infinite, eternal, omnipotent God and if they do not come to repentance, God with his justice will judge them as consuming fire.
God has given us the Holy Scriptures to study them and to know about the Divine. This was written throughout sixteen hundred years by human writers inspired by God. They were men of different intellectual and cultural conditions. Despite the long time it took to write this book and the different writers, it is one book, it is unified. This is the Bible. We encourage the people to read the Bible because it has a message of inestimable value for the present 21st century.
As BPC of La Paz we join the Bible Believers Churches of our country in the Celebration of the 500 years of the Protestant Reformation. Remember what the Bible tells us in Jude 3 “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
Always remember the legacy of the Reformation: Sola Scriptura, which means only the Bible. Sola Fide, which means only Faith, Sola Gratia, which means that salvation is by grace and not by works. Solus Christus, who teaches us that there is only one way to truth and life and this, is Jesus Christ. It is not the Church, it is not the religion, it is not a man, it is Jesus Christ, the truth, and Soli Deo Gloria, which means that we exist on this earth to give glory to God alone. This is the official statement of the La Paz BPC, with our text motto of Revelation 1:9 “For the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
